What our certified instructors say

What is Be Bad?

Allow Space for Discovery

Many yoga teachers or styles are overly rigid or overly soft. This is because humans fall into default mode. In our training we practicing becoming comfortable with “not knowing” or relying on our memory, default or “script”. When we become comfortable in  unknown spaces, the script loses its grip allowing us to teach more energetically, less mechanically, and hence finding your flow.

Establish Foundation

We establish the basics. We create a foundational practice using a guide we call True North Alignment, that is universal to all poses and movements. This defined direction establishes stability. From this place of stability we can explore mobility. You will start making personal discoveries when you’ve establish a solid foundation.

Momentum Creates Flow

Get comfortable failing, getting wrong, being bad so that you are free to try. We care-less about lectures and more about capacity for error – which happens through action. It’s less about the failure, more about adjusting to the failure. The more failure, the more adjustment the greater flow.

What Columbus Is Saying

I mean every category of my life has improved since I made this investment in myself. One specify would be that I do better at my job. It’s made me a better leader and better communicator. For sure a better listener too.

rachel k

The best part of the BeBad 7 session was our community. Yes, we had a unique mix of eight different personalities in our group, but it was what Steve did to create a unified whole amongst those eight personalities that made the BeBad 7 sessions so outstanding. Everyone got along, everyone was respectful of one another, and everyone was encouraging and supportive. Every session was truly inspirational and filled with learning and challenges. I loved the yoga practices we did when we were in a circle. I loved the challenges - staring into another person eyes, meditation, and questioning one another. The philosophical readings we did, and discussions around those readings, was one of my favorite parts each session. It made you think, question, learn, and be challenged. Those are some of my favorite parts of life.

I felt like the curriculum not being set in stone, and allowing for ample free conversation and space, was the most impactful part. Steve led the class and discussions but I never felt like there was some master plan for us to “accomplish “. I think that is representative of teaching as a whole, and really an understated but critical aspect to a meaningful experience. It’s easy to believe that you can just check the boxes and “be a yoga teacher”, but to really understand what the training was, you had to let go of that. It was really about presence in a room, really being yourself, and being ok not knowing every single thing.
