First experience of yoga / power yoga / REWILD YOGA?
I have been practicing yoga since I was five – my grandpa was a medicine man healer and used to mail me VHS yoga and breathing tapes. I grew up thinking it was play. That changed over time as I did – my experience with yoga and power yoga completely shifted into an integrated spiritual experience after I had my kids by way of what it did for my mind and heart.
Why do you practice power yoga?
I practice power yoga to remind myself how little most things matter – truly our opinion and judgements are what dictate our perception of our experiences, not the simple reality of what is physically happening. Yoga taught me to approach edges without fear. Instead of turning away from edges, I look for places to settle in and grab a metaphorical pillow to settle and soften on despite challenges.
Why do you teach power yoga?
This practice has changed me, saved me, guided me in facing me. This practice opened the gateway to my own agency, the path of facing what I was choosing to attach to that caused me pain – thought patterns. It has simplified the way I approach life and make decisions. It has helped me face myself; both the beautiful and the grimy parts. I find wholeness in this practice and I wish to extend even a fraction of the fucking gift that that is to anyone who will be with me.
